The Challenge
Water conservation and sustainability are growing global concerns. Two-thirds of Americans start their day with both a shower and a cup of coffee, yet an average shower wastes over 16 gallons of hot water, and only 32% of Nespresso’s aluminum capsules are recycled.
These challenges raise the question of reducing water and energy consumption while increasing recycling rates of coffee capcules.
The Insight
Research from Yale University reveals that loneliness leads to longer, hotter showers, increasing water and energy waste. Meanwhile, coffee’s aroma is scientifically proven to boost mood and energy without a single sip.
By repurposing used Nespresso capsules, coffee can do more than wake you up, it can help you take quicker, more sustainable showers.
